Newcastle United headlines: Chelsea ticket update, Federico Fernandez setback and fans XI vs Southampton

Your Newcastle United evening headlines for Thursday, March 10.

Chelsea tickets still valid

Newcastle fans heading to Chelsea on Sunday do not need to worry about their ticket being affected.

The UK Government placed sanctions on Blues owner Roman Abramovich this morning for his alleged ties with Russian President Vladimir Putin, essentially freezing his assets - including Chelsea - until further notice.

Chelsea are unable to earn any revenue while Abramovich is at the helm but match tickets that are already sold will not be affected.

This means it is business as usual for Toon supporters who have already bought their ticket for Stamford Bridge this weekend.

Fede injury setback

Federico Fernandez has suffered a setback on his road to recovery and could be out until next month.

The Argentine last played in Newcastle's 1-0 win against Burnley in December and remains a doubt for the trip to Goodison Park next Thursday. This means he is unlikely to be in contention until the Magpies face Spurs on April 3.

Speaking ahead of the Southampton game, Howe said: "Fede (Fernandez) picked up a very slight side strain. We don’t think it’s serious. It’ll keep him out for a week to 10 days."

Fans call for Bruno

Supporters want Eddie Howe to hand Bruno Guimaraes his first Newcastle start tonight.

Fans have patiently waited to catch a glimpse of the club's £40million January arrival, with his game time limited to substitute appearances so far. However, a congested fixture list means he could be given his chance to shine at St Mary's.

Allan Saint-Maximin and Javier Manquillo have also been backed to return in place of Jacob Murphy and Emil Krafth.
