Premier League to review controversial VAR calls including disallowed Newcastle goal
The Premier League will review the controversial VAR decisions made against Newcastle United and West Ham this weekend as a 'matter of priority'. That is according to the BBC, with the contentious calls dominating the post-match talking points on Saturday.
The Magpies were left incensed after a Tyrick Mitchell own goal was chalked off after Joe Willock was penalised for a foul on Vincente Guaita.

Referee Michael Salisbury initially allowed the goal to stand, but was then advised by VAR Lee Mason to review the decision on the pitchside monitor. Mitchell appeared to push Willock in the back ahead of the collision with the Palace goalkeeper, but the strike was still ruled out with the visitors instead awarded a free-kick.
Allan Saint-Maximin shares encouraging Newcastle injury return update
Allan Saint-Maximin insists he will be 'back soon' as the Newcastle United forward shared an injury update on social media. The Magpies' number 10 has missed the last two fixtures after picking up a hamstring injury in the draw at Wolves.
However, Saint-Maximin looked to be struggling with a hamstring complaint in the closing stages of the 1-1 draw. The former Nice attacker was subsequently absent for the clashes with Liverpool and Crystal Palace.
This seems to have been backed up by Saint-Maximin, judging by his update on Instagram on Sunday morning.

Eddie Howe believes his side had a 'perfectly good goal' ruled out, while Willock insists he was shoved and was left 'very disappointed' by the call. Magpies legend Alan Shearer could not hide his fury on social media and in the Match of the Day studio, labelling it 'abysmal', 'disgraceful' and 'shocking'.
Yet once again, United were left enraged by a decision which proved decisive in the result. In the space of four days, VAR and referee calls have led to Newcastle seeing a draw turn into a last-minute loss, and a potential win finish as a stalemate.
The average gap between each league position from seventh to 17th - with the 'Big Six' removed and a relegation battle the Magpies look unlikely to be involved in - was 1.8 points. The biggest cushion in this section of the table was five points between 14th-placed Aston Villa and Southampton below.
