Leicester make telling Harvey Barnes move but Newcastle have FFP dilemma after Ashley gifts
Harvey Barnes may have been present on the sidelines to watch Leicester City's pre-season game against Peterborough on Tuesday, but the Foxes decision to 'rest' the Newcastle United target was telling. It felt like a timely reminder of how resigned Leicester are to losing the winger as they protected their prized asset.
A hundred-and-eighty-three miles up the road, Allan Saint-Maximin offered a timely reminder of his own with a trademark individual goal at Newcastle's training ground. However, it was the words Saint-Maximin captioned the short clip with that were most striking.
"People can keep talking when they know nothing," he posted "I just keep working."

Eddie Howe's role in Harvey Barnes transfer with Newcastle boss set to receive pre-season boost
Eddie Howe is close to getting his man as Newcastle United near a deal for Leicester City winger Harvey Barnes. The two clubs have been edging closer to an agreement in recent days after the Foxes' initial high demands.
Talks were held over the weekend with Barnes rested for Leicester's pre-season defeat to Peterborough on Monday evening. Discussions have accelerated as Howe seeks to get his second signing through the door as quick as possible.
The Newcastle boss wants as many new faces added to his ranks before the trip to the United States of America later this month. Last year Howe had added three of his four summer signings by the time the first-team flew to Austria for their pre-season camp in a huge boost to preparations for the season.
While scouting chief Steve Nickson continues to cast his eye over potential talent and sporting director Dan Ashworth has sought out realistic transfer options, Howe has the final say on Newcastle incomings and has pushed hard behind the scenes for the Leicester attacker.

Amanda Staveley 'not intimidated' as Newcastle owner deals with 'awkward' agents and players
Newcastle United part-owner Amanda Staveley is 'not intimidated' and can deal with 'awkward' agents.
That is according to Sir Nigel Wilson, the chief executive of Legal and General, who is well-placed to comment. Not only Sir Nigel a lifelong Newcastle fan - the Newton Aycliffe native has personally seen Staveley 'operating on all those different levels'.
It was Staveley, for example, who dealt with a number of targets' representatives during the owners' crucial first transfer window at Newcastle in January, 2022. Although the hierarchy have since brought in an executive team, including CEO Darren Eales and sporting director Dan Ashworth, they remain involved.
