Newcastle United ran out winners in Saturday's friendly with Rayo Vallecano. The Magpies wasted little time taking the lead through Sean Longstaff in the early stages, before Chris Wood rifled home a penalty in the second period.
The away side got a goal back through a Matt Targett own goal but Newcastle saw the game out and have picked up yet another win.

Nick Pope 8
Straight back in and immediately called into action saving from Gomez. Rushed out to good effect a couple of times too. Denied clean sheet by Targett's OG.
Kieran Trippier 7
A comfortable return to action with some telling passes. A vital 81 minutes in the tank.
Jamaal Lascelles 7
Steady enough but faces fight to get shirt off Schar. Will probably face Bournemouth.
Sven Botman 7
Didn’t put a foot wrong. Some sumptuous passes.
Matt Targett 6
Edging his way back to full sharpness. Unfortunate OG.
Sean Longstaff 8
A wonderful strike and hard working display as he chased down Rayo. Knows he needs A-game to stay in contention these days. Man of the match.
Jonjo Shelvey 6
Probed away in midfield but Bruno will walk back into team when fit. Done just enough to start in midweek.
Joe Willock 8
Full of energy and always looking to create. Won penalty for moment that proved to be crucial.
Jacob Murphy 8
An assist and had his own chance to double lead. Switched to right-back late on.
Chris Wood 7
Some good openings. One effort was begging to be hit first time.Kept his focus to score penalty but chances in open play a concern.
Allan Saint-Maximin 7
Came into the game more in the second half. A couple of bright moments but couldn't find the finish.
Subs
Jay Turner-Cooke (for Shelvey 76)
