An independent review panel has identified Newcastle United as among a small number of Premier League teams to be on the wrong end of an incorrect VAR intervention this season, according to ESPN. The panel - which included three former players and representatives from the Premier League and referee's body PGMOL, earmarked six mistakes from 48 overturned decisions in the matches before the campaign came to a halt due to the World Cup.
There are no prizes for guessing which decision the Magpies are deemed to have been hard done by, and it is of course against Crystal Palace. Newcastle drew 0-0 with Patrick Vieira's side at St. James' Park but should have come away with the three points after Tyrick Mitchell's second half own goal was chalked off.
Joe Willock was adjudged to have fouled Vicente Guaita in the build-up, but replays clearly showed that the Newcastle midfielder was pushed into the Palace 'keeper by Mitchell. After a VAR review, it was given as a free-kick to Palace but quite clearly, the goal should've either been allowed to stand, or a penalty awarded.

Other incorrect interventions include the decision to disallow a late equaliser for West Ham away at Chelsea, and an opening goal for Arsenal in their eventual defeat at Manchester United. Incidentally, both of these decisions were in the same game week as the aforementioned Newcastle one, in what was arguably VAR's worst ever weekend since its introduction.
The other three are the penalisation of Lucas Digne for handball in a 3-1 defeat for Aston Villa at Palace in August with the score at 1-1, a red card for Douglas Luiz in Villa's 3-0 defeat at Fulham when they were just one goal behind, and Dean Henderson's concession of a penalty in Nottingham Forest's 2-2 with Brentford when they were 1-0 ahead.
