Newcastle United supporters have urged Lucas Paqueta to join his former Lyon team-mate Bruno Guimaraes at St James' Park. The attacking midfielder who has been named as a Magpies transfer target in French media reports confirmed he would be in the crowd for Thursday night's win at Southampton.
Guimaraes made his first start in black-and-white in place of injured fellow Brazilian midfielder Joelinton, and made a decisive impact shortly after the restart. The January signing quickly reacted to a Dan Burn knockdown to backheel a volley past Fraser Forster and secure a 2-1 victory.
It was a win which extended Newcastle's unbeaten top-flight run to nine matches, and pulled Eddie Howe's side 10 points clear of the relegation zone. With Premier League survival now in sight, attention will soon turn to what is expected to be another busy transfer window on Tyneside in the summer.
Paqueta's celebration of his former team-mate's goal on social media was quickly spotted by Newcastle fans. Reports suggest the Brazil international is valued at around €40million, and this is how Magpies supporters responded to the attacking midfielder.
