Newcastle United fans react as Zaha equaliser at Norwich keeps Magpies out of relegation zone

Newcastle United remain out of the relegation zone after a Wilfried Zaha equaliser denied Norwich City a third straight win.

The Eagles' talisman drew the visitors level on the hour-mark at Carrow Road on Wednesday night, cancelling out Teemu Pukki's strike after only 38 seconds.

Zaha then missed the chance to snatch the victory from the penalty spot just three minutes later, scuffing his effort wide of Angus Gunn's post.

Eddie Howe's side spent more than an hour of Wednesday evening back in the relegation zone in the live Premier League table, having only climbed out for the first time since October with victory over Everton the night before.

However, the Canaries were unable to hold on a win which would have put Dean Smith's side level on points with the Toffees, and a point clear of the Magpies.

Newcastle remain 17th in the table with a game in hand of Norwich ahead of another home fixture with Aston Villa on Sunday afternoon.

United supporters were unsurprisingly nervous throughout proceedings in Norfolk, fearing Howe's side would slip back into the bottom three despite a morale-boosting win.

Here is how Newcastle United fans reacted to the Canaries' draw with Crystal Palace.

'Could bring Palace into it'

'Great result'

'Need to go ahead'

'Palace not a million miles away'

'Things may be looking up'

'Very nearly a perfect round'
