Newcastle United evening headlines: Season ticket renewals date and secret Bruno weapon

A look at the latest Newcastle United headlines on Thursday, April 28.

Newcastle United fans given season ticket advice by club box office

Newcastle United have announced that the window for renewals is now open for the 2022/23 season.

Fans have been told the deadline for season ticket renewals is May 19 ahead of what promises to be an exciting summer at St James' Park.

A club statement read: "The renewal period for existing Newcastle United season ticket holders is now open for the 2022/23 campaign. The club is contacting all current season ticket holders by email to inform them of the renewal process, with letters being posted to any season ticket holders without a valid email address on their club ticketing account."

Longstaff buzzing for Brazilian Joelinton following Carrow Road brace

What a season it's been for Joelinton. For two seasons, it was difficult to understand just what Newcastle United saw in the Brazilian, who they signed from Hoffenheim for a whopping £40m in the summer of 2019. But ever since Eddie Howe's arrival on Tyneside, Joelinton has been reborn.

While he has spent the majority of the second half of the season operating in central midfield, he was moved back upfront against Norwich last weekend, scoring an impressive brace.

And according to Sean Longstaff, all the Newcastle players refused to take their traditional post match photo until their Brazilian talisman had entered the away dressing room.

"I’m so happy for him and he deserves it," Longstaff told ChronicleLive. "The way he’s been this season since he’s changed his role, and then to go a little further forward and show how effective he can be there."

Guimaraes family already enjoying Toon Army away days

Last Saturday's 3-0 win away against Norwich was the perfect away day for Newcastle United's travelling support. A comfortable win, a Joelinton brace and an outrageous dink from Bruno Guimaraes meant that travelling toon fans enjoyed a sunsoaked afternoon at Carrow Road.

However, it was even better for Guimaraes's father, Dick Gomez, who was sat in the away end with the 2,600 toon fans in attendance. With a host of Brazilian flags dotted around the ground, Gomez watched on as his son helped Newcastle to their fourth straight win on the bounce.

And alongside Gomez was Guimaraes' physical therapist and fitness trainer Marcelo 'Rato' Coutinho, who has also had a major impact on helping the 24-year-old settle on Tyneside.

Former Magpie Jose Enrique heaps praise on Eddie Howe

Ex-Newcastle United defender Jose Enrique has heaped praise upon manager Eddie Howe, claiming that he has done "the best possible job" since arriving at St James' Park. And Enrique is backing Howe to do something incredible on Tyneside.

"Top 10 is definitely the target, then from there they will see how far they can go," Enrique told Lord Ping. "I believe they can go to play for the top six and in the future the top four, if they are patient in the transfer window.”
