Newcastle United duo help England seal World Cup last-16 tie against Senegal

England have successfully navigated Group B as they've come out as group winners after their 3-0 win over Wales at the Ahmed bin Ali Stadium.

An incredible free kick from Marcus Rashford followed up by a tap-in from Phil Foden inside a minute of each other meant the Three Lions got off to a rampant start just five minutes into the second half.

Rashford found his second of the match after 68 minutes with a lovely solo effort as he broke down the right-hand side, took on two Welsh defenders before nutmegging goalkeeper Danny Ward with the shot.

Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate made a host of changes after the two opening goals including having Newcastle United forward Callum Wilson replace captain Harry Kane after 57 minutes who made a solid impact, creating a few chances including trying to tee up Rashford for his hattrick but the Manchester United player put it wide. Magpies defender Kieran Trippier also came off the bench on 65 minutes to help see out the win.

Who and when will England be playing in the Round of 16?

The Three Lions will be playing against Senegal in the round of 16 who finished second in Group A on Sunday, December 4th at the Al Bayt Stadium in Al Khor.

The Lions of Teranga had to win their match against Ecuador earlier this afternoon to make it through and after a converted penalty from Ismaila Sarr and a volley from Kalidou Koulibaly, they managed to reach the knockouts for the first time since 2002.

They also beat Qatar on their way through the group stage last week with a 3-1 scoreline after losing their opening match to Group A winners the Netherlands.
