Newcastle United can use Sandro Tonali persuasion technique on Tino Livramento this summer

Newcastle United transfer target Tino Livramento will receive a significant wage increase should he choose to swap the south coast for the north east this summer. The Magpies are chasing the 20-year-old's signature but are yet to agree a fee with Southampton, who are holding out for £30m.

Newcastle are so far unwilling to meet their demands, with the two clubs roughly £10m apart in their respective valuations. Livramento only joined Southampton for £5m but continued his meteoric rise before a cruel anterior cruciate ligament injury ruled him out for over a year.

The small transfer fee involved also saw Livramento signed on a low weekly wage. The England under-21 international currently earns less than £10,000-a-week at St Mary's and will be paid far more handsomely at St James' Park.

Livramento won't be the only new arrival that sees their pay packet bolstered at Newcastle this summer, with AC Milan star Sandro Tonali set to double his current weekly wage upon joining Eddie Howe's side. The Italian midfielder is expected to become the club's new top earner on roughly 150,000-a-week.

Tonali, a diehard Milan fan, was torn over whether to leave the San Siro when Newcastle came calling but the financial aspect of such a transfer will have no doubt played a big part in his decision.

Newcastle's current crop of right-backs currently earn far more than Livramento too. Javier Manquillo pockets around £35,000-a-week, while Emil Krafth earns north of £50,000. Kieran Trippier is among the Magpies' top earners on his £120,000-a-week deal.

Livramento's arrival will see Ryan Fraser move in the opposite direction. The winger almost joined Southampton in January before a move failed to materialise.

Fraser's Newcastle future has looked bleak for some time after a fall out with Howe earlier this year. The Scot has been training with the under-21s and is happy to depart Tyneside.
