Newcastle United must now wait for further guidance from the Premier League to see when their next fixture will be played.
The country entered a period of mourning following the death of Queen Elizabeth II and their game at West Ham has now been postponed. Eddie Howe's Press conference on Friday was also cancelled as Premier League chiefs came to a decision.
With the 10-day mourning period beginning today it remains to be seen whether next Saturday's game at home to AFC Bournemouth is also postponed.
A Premier League statement read: "Further updates regarding Premier League fixtures during the period of mourning will be provided in due course."
Premier League chief Richard Masters had said: “We and our clubs would like to pay tribute to Her Majesty’s long and unwavering service to our country.
"As our longest-serving monarch, she has been an inspiration and leaves behind an incredible legacy following a life of dedication.
"This is a tremendously sad time for not just the nation but also for the millions of people around the world who admired her, and we join together with all those in mourning her passing.”
A Newcastle statement read: "A decision on Newcastle United's home Premier League fixture against AFC Bournemouth at 3pm on Saturday 17th September will be made in due course."
