Newcastle United are believed to have been suggested in conversation via an intermediary as a possible destination for unsettled Belgium international Yannick Carrasco.
A report in Mundo Deportivo last week linked the 29-year-old with Barcelona with the former Monaco star also said to be offered around a clutch of clubs in Europe - including Newcastle - for a fee of just £16.3million. It is understood that the clause to buy Carrasco from Atletico Madrid for that fee has now passed.

Since then Carrasco's agent Pini Zahavi has been looking at possible options for the winger in the summer window. Atletico used Carrasco regularly last season and the suggestion from sources at the Metropolitano Stadium is that they would like to keep the winger.
Although, Carrasco has just one year left on his deal and it is little wonder that his representatives are testing the market. Chronicle Live understands that Atletico would not stand in Carrasco's way if he could find a club this summer.
Carrasco is a former team-mate of Kieran Trippier and is believed to be keen on a switch to England one day. At 29 time is running down on his career and he would be a popular free transfer next summer if he decides to see his current deal out in La Liga.
Carrasco was watched by Newcastle under the previous regime when Graham Carr ran the rule over the left-sided player. But he ended up signing for Monaco in 2015 before stints in China with Dalian Yifang.
The wide man has played 114 games in La Liga scoring 20 goals and has proven quality.
