Newcastle transfer news: Toon learn mammoth price tags for Jack Harrison and Ivan Toney

Newcastle have had a mixed transfer window so far, landing some targets and missed out on others.

They have spent £57million on Matt Targett, Nick Pope and Sven Botman, but Eddie Howe has still failed to land the striker he wants.

Newcastle missed out on striker Hugo Ekitike to Paris Saint Germain and are now being linked with Red Bull Salzburg's Benjamin Sesko, as well as Brentford's Ivan Toney and Everton's England hitman Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

They are also trying to prise Jack Harrison away from Leeds and have reportedly made an opening offer for the winger - only to see it rebuffed by his current club.

Mirror Football has the latest transfer news from Newcastle, including updates on Toney and Harrison.

Toon told to pay £35million for Jack Harrison

Leeds have told Newcastle they must pay £35million for Jack Harrison. Newcastle like Harrison and according to the Athletic have made an offer of £18million for the winger.

But Leeds want double that amount, even though he only cost them £11million from Manchester City last summer, because he has been one of their best performers in the Premier League.

Leeds are trying to price Newcastle out of a move for Harrison and they are desperate not to lose him after being forced to sell Raphinha and Kalvin Phillips this summer.

Interest in teenage hotshot rebuffed

Our sister paper, The Newcastle Chronicle, claim Red Bull Salzburg have ruled out teenage striker Benjamin Sesko leaving to join Newcastle.

Sesko's agent triggered a flurry of speculation when he pictured himself at Newcastle Airport and famous Quayside.

Sesko, 19, fits the mould of player Newcastle want for the future as they progress and the Slovenian is tipped for the top.

However Salzburg have insisted Sesko is not for sale and that he is firmly part of their plans for next season.

Mammoth fee for Toney

Brentford want £40million for striker Ivan Toney, according to a report in The Metro.

Newcastle are keen on Toney as they continue their striker search and he spent three years at St James' Park between 2015 and 2018.

Toney has scored 43 goals in 78 league appearances for the Bees and was a key part of their successful debut season in the top flight. Thus, Brentford do not want to lose Toney and want £40million to tempt them to consider selling him.
