Now, the Times claim the Magpies are set to revive their interest in Maddison in the mid-season window. The attacking midfielder's contract status means the Foxes could find their resolve tested once again.

The clubs were said to be some way apart in their respective valuations this summer. With 18 months left on his deal in January, Newcastle are reportedly hopeful Leicester will reconsider their stance over a prospective sale.
Magpies join the 'race' for Jackson
The Magpies have joined the 'race' to sign Villarreal forward Nicolas Jackson, according to Football Insider. The 21-year-old has impressed so far this season, and has also earned his first senior call-up for Senegal.
Everton were linked with Jackson this summer, and now the Magpies have been credited with an interest. Alexander Isak arrived in a club-record deal, but Eddie Howe is still said to be keen on improving his attacking options.
Jackson reportedly has a £29 million release clause in effect, although his current contract is due to expire next summer according to Transfermarkt. The forward has scored once and registered one assist in La Liga so far this season.
