Kalvin Phillips 'would consider a move to Newcastle United' according to former West Ham striker Frank McAvennie. The Whites midfielder is expected to leave Elland Road this summer with the likes of Manchester United, Liverpool, Aston Villa, Newcastle and West Ham chasing his signature.
The Manchester Evening News claim the Red Devils will make Phillips their priority despite showing interest in Declan Rice and Jude Bellingham. United are believed to be put off by West Ham's £150million asking price for Rice, while Dortmund are hoping to keep Bellingham with Erling Haaland expected to leave the Bundesliga outfit.
A reported fee of £60million would be enough to pry the England international away from his boyhood club and the Magpies could field a £140million midfield, if Phillips makes the move to St. James' Park. Eddie Howe's side will know they face stern competition for Phillips, but their aim of challenging for the Premier League title and European football could prove an attractive proposition.

The financial package Newcastle are believed to be offering Phillips is in the region of £120,000 per-week, according to reports, a figure that would see him quadruple his wages. McAvennie believes Phillips will leave Leeds this "no matter what."
“As long as Newcastle stay up, they are a massive draw," he told Football Insider. "You look at the project that they are starting and the players they have already signed.
“I don’t see why Phillips wouldn’t consider an offer from Newcastle. In four or five years they are going to be right up there challenging.
“Phillips has time on his side so he could be a key part of this revolution the club is about to go through. That’s an amazing thing but there will be lots of clubs interested in him.
“Paying top wages is never going to be a problem for them so it’s about the sell. I think he’s going to leave Leeds no matter what. He’s too good to be fighting down there and there will be top clubs wanting to sign him.”
