DFDS, the ferry operator for crossings between Newcastle and Amsterdam, will offer up to seven trips a week this year. This means that whenever you get some time off, chances are very high that you can escape to Europe without too much worry.
Up until February 18th, crossings to The Netherlands take place every two days. It takes roughly 16 hours and 45 minutes depending on the weather, and with comfy cabins for two to four people, the overnight trip sails over.
Passengers do not have a luggage allowance, bring as much as they need, and have the option to bring their own bicycle, motorcycle, car, van or motorhome. Dining is available in one of the ship’s restaurants or cafes and is bookable in advance, so there’s nothing to worry about but getting there on time.
