Newcastle team-mate delivers exciting wonderkid verdict after senior debut and Eddie Howe decision

Newcastle United wonderkid Lewis Miley has been hailed for being 'mature' and always making the 'right decision' on the pitch after making his senior debut. That is according to academy team-mate Michael Ndiweni, who played alongside the England youth international with the Magpies under-18s last season.

Miley is by far the youngest player in Newcastle's touring party in Saudi Arabia, and made his first-team debut on Thursday as a late substitute in the 5-0 victory over Al-Hilal. It is the latest milestone in a remarkable year for the 16-year-old, who only scored his first goal for the under-21s last week.

Miley has also scored for his country, having represented England at under-17 level in the Nordic Championships in October, and was rewarded for his development with the Jack Hixon Award. Magpies under-21 boss Elliott Dickman has praised the teenager, but urged the attacking midfielder to stay 'hungry' and 'humble' to continue his rise through the ranks.

Miley joined fellow academy prospects Alex Murphy, Dylan Stephenson, Jay Turner-Cooke and Joe White for the Magpies' overseas warm-weather training camp. Ndiweni praised his fellow teenager for his all-round game, while highlighting his composure in possession and his decision-making.

He told ChronicleLive: "He's just so mature, as a midfielder when you play with him, he always makes the right decision. He might shoot and score, and you might have wanted the ball, but he always makes the right decision. He always keeps the ball, he's so creative and he's got an eye for goal. For his age, he's probably the tallest player in the U21s and he's the youngest. His all-round game is so good."
