Newcastle supporters send Eddie Howe Allan Saint-Maximin message ahead of Carabao Cup quarter-final

Newcastle United supporters have urged Eddie Howe to recall Allan Saint-Maximin to the starting XI for tonight's crucial Carabao Cup quarter-final against Leicester.

Howe rung the changes for Saturday's FA Cup defeat to Sheffield Wednesday but is expected to return to his full-strength line-up for the visit of the Foxes to St James' Park.

Saint-Maximin has largely had to make do with a place on the bench this term but according to the results of our Chronicle Live team selector poll, fans would like to see the French winger replace Sean Longstaff from Newcastle's usual XI this evening.

Nick Pope would start in goal, guarded by the regular back four of Kieran Trippier, Sven Botman, Fabian Schar and Dan Burn. Bruno Guimaraes would drop into the holding midfielder role in place of Longstaff, with fans wanting Joelinton to drop back into midfield alongside the energetic Joe Willock.

Top goalscorer Miguel Almiron would unsurprisingly start on the right of the front three, with Saint-Maximin coming back into the side on the left flank. Callum Wilson would get the fans' nod up front ahead of Chris Wood and record signing Alexander Isak - who returned to action in Saturday's defeat to Sheffield Wednesday.
