Newcastle star Bruno Guimaraes sends message to former Arsenal player after Tottenham thrashing

Newcastle United's players have taken to social media to toast Sunday's 6-1 thrashing of Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

The Magpies shocked Spurs with five goals inside the opening 21 minutes to romp to victory at St James' Park. Jacob Murphy netted a brace inside ten minutes with Joelinton also on the scoresheet with Alexander Isak bagging two for himself in an incredible first half.

Callum Wilson rounded off the scoring in the second half with Harry Kane netting a consolation four minutes after half-time. Newcastle's players enjoyed the game and posted to social media afterward to share their delight at moving closer to a return to the Champions League.

One player in particular who toasted the win was former Arsenal player Joe Willock, who made the move to Tyneside back in 2021 for around £20 million following a successful loan spell with Newcastle. Willock set up one of Isak's goals with a superb pass with the outside of his boot to register an eighth goal involvement of the season.

"That was special," Willock wrote on social media platform Instagram after the game with Isak commenting 'you're so good'. Team-mate Murphy, meanwhile, said 'that pass was special'.

Bruno Guimaraes commented 'my guys' with a love heart for the pair. Given his Arsenal allegiance, Willock will have enjoyed thrashing Spurs having joined the Gunners in 2004 and spending 17 years with the club before moving on.

His boss at Newcastle, Eddie Howe, was delighted with the standard-setting victory at the hands of a sorry Spurs side that are considering the immediate future of interim coach Cristian Stellini. "If you're saying that's us at our best, then there's only one place to go, and that's down," Howe said.

"That was hopefully a glimpse of what we're capable of, but you've got to believe there's better and more to come from us."
