Andrea Riseborough has received a prestigious nomination for Best Actress at this year's Oscars.
The 41-year-old star, who grew up in Whitley Bay, is nominated for her role in To Leslie, a film based on a true story about a single mother who turns to alcohol after spending all of her lottery winnings. Andrea's nomination for To Leslie marks the only Oscar nod for the film, which was released in October last year.
It's the first time that Andrea has been nominated for an Oscar - also known as an Academy Award, and widely considered the most prestigious film award in the industry. However, she already has many other awards under her belt including a BAFTA, Royal Television Society, Screen Actors Guild and Critics' Choice Award.

A star of the stage as well as the small and big screen, Andrea has also appeared in Black Mirror, Matilda the Musical, and Bloodline. The Tyneside star got her first taste of stardom at a young age on stage at the People's Theatre in Newcastle, with she and her sister Laura Riseborough, who is also an actress, attending Newcastle Church High School in Jesmond.
Also nominated in the category of Best Actress are Cate Blanchett for Tár, Ana de Armas for Marilyn Monroe biopic Blonde, Michelle Williams for The Fabelmans and Michelle Yeoh for Everything Everywhere All At Once. Meanwhile, Paul Mescal, Brendan Fraser, Bill Nighy, Colin Farrell and Austin Butler all received nominations for Best Actor.
Mind-bending multiverse epic Everything Everywhere All At Once leads this year's nominations, bagging 11 in total. Meanwhile, All Quiet On The Western Front and The Banshees of Inisherin both received nine, Elvis eight, and The Fabelmans seven.
The Oscars will be held on Sunday, March 12 this year. On the list for Best Picture this year are:
