Newcastle star Allan Saint-Maximin wins Premier League Goal of the Month for stunning Wolves strike

Allan Saint-Maximin’s stunning last-minute equaliser against Wolverhampton Wanderers has been crowned Premier League goal of the month for August. With the scoreline at 1-0, the Frenchman smashed an acrobatic volley past the hapless Jose Sa to cause chaos in the away end.

Newcastle United looked set to be dealt their first defeat of the season when Saint-Maximin saved the day to rescue a point. The strike earned a whopping 39% of the vote share, ahead of Luis Diaz vs Crystal Palace and Trent Alexander-Arnold vs Bournemouth.

Kieran Trippier was also nominated for his spectacular free-kick against Manchester City. The Magpies could have had their own goal-of-the-month competition as Fabian Schar’s opening-day effort vs Nottingham Forest turned heads. However, the Swiss defender missed out on the shortlist.
