Newcastle set-piece guru revealed, Bruno's FIFA 23 celebration and fan gift to Miguel Almiron

Newcastle United's meticulous backroom staff may well have one of the best set-piece takers in Europe at their disposal in Kieran Trippier.

But after hitting the target three times since his move from Atletico Madrid the England full-back had perhaps left teams a little too prepared for what was about to come next from set-pieces. Brentford had already been caught by surprise when Trippier rolled a free-kick sideways for Bruno Guimaraes to whip to the back post early on.

And on 21 minutes nobody was expecting the routine that followed as Miguel Almiron calmly rolled the ball to Trippier before a 100mph cross was directed to Bruno Guimaraes to head home! Newcastle coach Stephen Purchess usually works tirelessly on set-plays but even he could not take the credit away from colleague Jason Tindall after dreaming up the move that caught Brentford napping.

Bruno Guimaraes celebrates victory by doing it all again on FIFA 23

No sooner had the Brazil international netted two goals, got changed and spoke to the media he headed home to celebrate with his family and friends. The midfielder is set to become a dad in the next few days but isn't the type of guy to head out to the Quayside or Bigg Market to celebrate anyway.

His plans for Saturday night were simple. The football obsessed star has already wooed supporters by posting a video of himself beating Sunderland on the new FIFA.

And as he left the ground he admitted he was heading home to do it all again on his games console.

Goalscorers get the limelight but Sven Botman puts in best display yet

The Dutchman opted against playing for the Holland Under-21 side to concentrate on club football last month. And it looks like that decision is already paying dividends. Botman was outstanding against Brentford and after getting over a slightly shaky start, he went on to put in some polished stats.

He won four aerial challenges, made four immaculate tackles, made three clearances and one block. Eddie Howe stated he had a plan for Botman and the player - who is yet to taste defeat for Newcastle - is starting to execute it.

Miguel Almiron's proud moment as fan presents him with gift

The South American is now top scorer for Newcastle with four goals and has already quadrupled his tally from last season inside nine games. He needs just one more to level his five-goal tally of 2020/21 and is two shy of his final total for the 2019/20 season.

The way he is playing you'd fancy him to get his seasonal best for Newcastle this term. After the game, it was obvious just how much fans have taken him to their hearts and one supporters handed him a Paraguay flag at the final whistle.

He's had quite the afternoon at St James' Park and left the ground with a smile stretching ear to ear.
