Eddie Howe hopes Newcastle United can get a 'couple more deals done' this summer as the Magpies' head coach targets 'top quality players'.
Newcastle have made three signings so far in the window, bringing in goalkeeper Nick Pope and defenders Sven Botman and Matt Targett, but securing more firepower was always the priority. Callum Wilson, after all, was the club's top scorer last season with just eight goals despite missing several months of the campaign through injury.
Newcastle looked to make a quick breakthrough to sign a player who could help ease the burden on Wilson and the Magpies had a bid accepted by Stade de Reims for striker Hugo Ekitike last month. However, Ekitike ultimately ended up joining PSG instead.

Another top target, winger Moussa Diaby, meanwhile, has confirmed that he will be staying at Bayer Leverkusen this season. The Bundesliga side's asking price was always an issue, regardless, which has been a recurring theme with some of those names at the top of Newcastle's wish list, including Real Sociedad striker Alexander Isak.
For Howe, it is all about 'finding the right player at the right price' - however long that takes in the final six weeks of the window.
"The transfer market in general is very difficult," he told Sky Sports. "To sign top quality players, which is the area that we're in now, is very difficult to do because you need a club willing to sell; you need the player to want to come to your club; and there's lots of different things that go into making that happen.
"We've done really well so far. I've been very pleased with our business to this point and that can't be ignored. Three really good signings in terms of players and people so the squad is in a very good position. We are looking for more and, hopefully, we can get a couple more deals done."
