Newcastle's Thali Tray to close as lease expires at popular Ouseburn home

A Newcastle street food vendor has announced it is closing its doors after its lease expired at its popular home.

Stepney Bank's Thali Tray took to Instagram this afternoon to break the news to its almost ten thousand followers, many of whom were heartbroken to see their favourite Indian food outlet wave goodbye to its home of years.

The popular vendor has made waves since opening its doors under Arch Two, with a fantastic array of exemplary cuisine inspired by a taste of the far East.

But today it announced that it will be parting ways with the Ouseburn scene, where it has many fond memories with foodies and travelling visitors alike. Taking to Instagram, owners of the account, wrote: "We are sad to announce that Thali Tray's lease at Arch 2 has not been renewed, meaning that we are reluctantly having to close.

"Our last day of trading at Arch 2 will be Sunday 9th October."

However, the good news is that Thali Tray won't disappear forever, with owners of the highly-successful business working endlessly to find a new premises to cook out of.

They continued: "However, we have been working hard on finding the perfect new home for Thali Tray. An exciting announcement will be made about this in the near future.

"We want to take this opportunity to thank you for your custom over the years that we have been trading, we really have come a long way! We hope to see you again in our new venue for the next exciting chapter of Thali Tray. Goodbye, for now...Team Thali."

And the news, while exciting for some who can't wait to be a part of Thali Tray's next chapter, also came as saddening to others who will miss visiting their favourite local eatery on the regular. One user wrote: "This is so sad :( can’t wait to see where you end up!" while another, added: "Noooooòo. Please dont make the wait to long."

A third, echoed: "Hope you find some where soon x," while a fourth, commented: "What!! No!!!! Oh guys."
