Newcastle's latest transfer move revealed with new club partner agreement

Newcastle United have agreed a partnership with StatsBomb in a move intended to create 'prolonged success' for the club.

The Magpies' new owners have not been shy in outlining their ambitions for the club, and have already spent in excess of £90m to land five January signings including Bruno Guimaraes and Kieran Trippier.

It is a move which has already paid dividends, with several of the new players playing key roles as Eddie Howe's side recorded a third straight Premier League win against Aston Villa on Sunday.

The mid-season spending spree is expected to be the first part of a major rebuild at St James' Park, with further reinforcements to be targeted in the summer.

This process will now be assisted by analytics and data provide StatsBomb, with the firm announcing their multi-year partnership with the Premier League club on Monday.

Newcastle will benefit in their approach to 'key aspects of modern football such as successful player acquisition and detailed opposition analysis', according to the announcement.

Data from thousands of matches will now be available to club staff, allowing them to prepare reports on potential targets as well as garner insights on upcoming opponents.

Shergul Arshad, chief commercial officer for StatsBomb, said: "We are delighted to be working with one of the English Premier League’s proudest teams.

Newcastle are the latest club to reach an agreement with StatsBomb, with the likes of Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool announcing partnerships with the analytic experts last year.
