Newcastle's Cosy Joes on hunt for singers as karaoke final nears with cash prizes up for grabs

Calling all karaoke kings and queens - you have one last chance to be Cosy Joes' next singing superstar, with he final of the bar's big money competition now just a week away.

The Grost Markley bar is the karaoke capital of Newcastle city centre, with locals and visitors alike flocking there seven nights a week, to grab the mic and belt out a tune, whether it be in one of Cosy's private karaoke pods are on stage in front of other revellers. From Monday through to Sunday, you can expect to see students, Geordies, stags and hens singing everything from Sweet Caroline to Sam Fender.

And if you can carry a tune, there is some serious cash to be won in the final of the contest, which will take place at Cosy Joes on Thursday, June 29. This year's winner will take home £500, wit £300 for the runner up, £100 for third and the same amount of money awarded to the singer chosen by the judges as the most ente4rtaining performer.

Over the last few weeks, loads of people have been taking to the stage in the hope of making the grand finale, with four singers voted through each week. And there is now just one chance left for hopefuls to impress, with the final; heat taking place at Cosy Joes on Thursday, June 22.

The heat will get going after 10pm, with registration from 9pm, so even if you end up going out for a few after work drinks and get some Dutch courage, you might as well have a try!

Cosy Joes isn't just a favourite amongst Bigg Market regulars, last month Newcastle players Kieran Trippier and Matt Targett celebrated the team making the Champions League by partying at the bar two nights in a row.
