Eddie Howe and Newcastle United travel to face Everton on Thursday night, with the Magpies looking to keep up their momentum after a memorable 6-1 Premier League win against Tottenham.
The Toon are currently third in the table, level on points with Manchester United, who travel to Spurs on Thursday night. A win for Newcastle on Merseyside would help solidify a Champions League spot which had looked unlikely at the start of the season, a remarkable feat for Eddie Howe in his first full season in charge.
They face an Everton side who are now deep in a relegation battle under Sean Dyche. A win for Nottingham Forest on Wednesday has left the Toffees needing a win to escape the bottom three as their position looks increasingly perilous.
With the Blues having passionate support behind them at Goodison Park, it is sure to be a hotly contested match with both sides having lots to compete for. It will also be a return for Anthony Gordon to his childhood club, with the former Everton youngster having left Everton in January to join Newcastle.
It was not a harmonious departure, something which Eddie Howe commented upon during his press conference on Wednesday.
He said: "I'm not party to what happened and what went on. I can only really comment on the player that I've seen, and he's been very, very good - trained really well - as I've said many times, (he's) very passionate, wants to achieve, wants to do really well in his career.
"What happened at Everton, I can't really comment on, but he's fine and he's in a good place." Gordon is unlikely to start on Thursday night, with the England U21 international having failed to break into Eddie Howe's starting team just yet, with the side for Everton expected to be similar to that which dominated Tottenham on Sunday.
