Newcastle United have entered into discussions with Dele Alli over a potential switch.
That’s according to Football Insider , which says that Eddie Howe has sanctioned a move for the shunned Tottenham star after initially dismissing the idea.
The Magpies are open to either a loan or a permanent transfer for the 25-year-old with their enquiries about Manchester United’s Jesse Lingard going nowhere.
Alli has featured 18 times for Spurs this term, starting just eight Premier League games.
He hasn’t managed to gain any league action so far in 2022, his only outing of the new year coming in the 3-1 Third Round FA Cup win over Morecambe.
Football Insider also reports that Alli has spoken to former teammate Kieran Trippier about rekindling ties.
Carlos agents urge Sevilla sale
Meanwhile, Newcastle’s high-profile chase of Sevilla defender Diego Carlos has been given another boost.
The 28-year-old’s representatives have flown to Spain to urge his employers to let him leave for St James’ park, according to 90min .
They want their player to be released in time for him to join up with the Newcastle squad during their getaway break to Saudi Arabia during the upcoming pause in the season.
Eddie Howe is planning to table £30m for Carlos but Sevilla are holding out for double that with the Brazilian’s release clause standing at £66m.
The centre-half has played an integral part in his club’s positive season with Sevilla sitting second in La Liga.
Leno linked with move
Finally, ESPN reports that Bernd Leno is pushing for an Arsenal exit after losing his number one spot to Aaron Ramsdale.
It says that Newcastle are circling the shot stopper, who has played just three Premier League games this campaign and was dropped for the Carabao Cup semi-final loss to Liverpool despite playing in the three previous rounds.
Inter Milan are also keen on the 29-year-old Germany international.
