Newcastle Loves 2022 results 'too close to call' as voting deadline approaches

There are just a few days left to get your votes in for this year's Newcastle Loves awards, and, after nearly 23,000 votes in just over a week, the results look set to go right down to the wire.

When ChronicleLive first launched Newcastle Loves back in 2019, it was with a firm view to making it an annual event to honour the people and places that make our amazing city to great. Unfortunately, Covid had other ideas, meaning we unfortunately had to shelves plans to have in both 2020 and 2021.

However, with things opening up a lot more over the past year, we felt it time to bring Newcastle Loves back and celebrate the hospitality industry, after those involved in it had to fight to survive during the pandemic. One of our new categories for this year is Covid success story, to honour businesses and individuals who had to adapt to keep things going or successfully launch new ventures during testing times.

We issued a call out for nominations for Newcastle Loves 2022 last month and then after close to 10,000 suggestions came in, we counted them up and then r eleased the shortlists in each of the 12 categories which are: Best Bar, Best Pub, Best Restaurant, Best Casual Dining, Best Late Night Venue, Best LGBTQ+ Venue, Best Cocktail Haunt, Best Club Night, Best Sunday Dinner, Best Live Entertainment Venue, Best Outdoor Space and Covid Success Story. Cast your votes HERE or in the form below.

Since Tuesday, July 5 you've been able to choose your winner in each of those and, while we can't say too much, we've been informed that the outcome really is neck and neck in some of the categories, with just nine votes separating first and second in one of them, and a margin of just 20 in another.

Given we've had over 22,500 those gaps are nothing, so you still have time to make all the difference with your votes, before the deadline of 11.59pm on Sunday, July 17.
