Newcastle legend the Geordie Dancer returns in viral video clip ahead of NUFC Carabao Cup final

Toon legend the Geordie Dancer has made a triumphant return on social media, ahead of Newcastle United's Carabao Cup final against Manchester United at the weekend.

David Johnson famously faced off against local rival the Mackem Mover during a Soccer AM dance off - and with fond memories in mind, Magpie fans were buzzing that the move buster was back.

In a viral video which emerged on TikTok and Twitter, David dusts off his old moves in local pub Cosy Joes - with one fan joking: "He's back? He's never been away!"

The Daily Star reports "Holy s***… I’ve seen this video about ten times and it’s only just clicked who it is," a second added, while a third Tweeted: "Give me unadulterated joyful expression over being cool every day of the week!"

"A true Soccer AM OG. Imagine life going full circle and Lovejoy interviewing Geordie Dancer on next week's Sunday Brunch," a fourth added. Speaking shortly ahead of his past Soccer AM dance-off, David compared football to dancing: "Dancing is like football – it’s all about what happens on the day, so I’ll need to put in a good performance!"

He'll be hoping Newcastle will have their dancing shoes on at Wembley as they look to win their first major trophy since the 1955 FA Cup. However, they'll have to beat out a red-hot United side who will be led by Marcus Rashford, who is in the form of his life.

NUFC fans were dealt blows last week, when goalkeeper Nick Pope handled the ball outside his box in a Premier League clash against Liverpool at St James'. The 30-year-old first choice keeper subsequently was handed a straight red card - meaning that he will miss Newcastle's cup final at the weekend.

Manager Eddie Howe is now left with the choice of Loris Karius or Mark Gillespie in the net at the weekend, with the former not playing in a competitive game for Newcastle this season.

The last cup final Karius was a part of was Liverpool's 3-1 Champions League loss to Real Madrid in 2018 - in which the German keeper dropped a number of clangers for the scouse side.
