Newcastle influencer and young mum opens up on having surgery under eyes after losing confidence

A young mum has told how she had surgery under her eyes after she lost her confidence and felt she couldn’t leave the house without make-up.

Online influencer and content creator Chloe Elizabeth, from Newcastle, had a lower eyelid reduction after becoming unhappy with how she looked. The 23-year-old posts pictures of herself on Instagram, sometimes advertising products to earn money.

She said: “I’m a new mum and I’m tired and I look tired so I just wanted a little bit of a freshen up. The reason I chose to get this surgery is because my job involves a lot of taking photos of myself and it was something that I noticed in photos.

“I would spend a lot of time editing or I would put on extra make-up under my eyes to try to cover it. Most of the time I was relying on filters which I didn’t really want to do.

“It was affecting my day-to-day life. It was really knocking my confidence, I wouldn’t leave the house without make-up.”

Chloe had a procedure at cosmetic specialists Signature Clinic and added: “It’s been a month since the surgery and I can’t believe the difference, I feel like my old self again and I can go back to taking photos with confidence like before.”

Chloe’s surgery, also known as a Lower Blepharoplasty procedure, which usually takes about two hours, often sees skin or fat removed from the lower eyelids to reduce bags and wrinkles. Full recovery is expected between two to four weeks, reports Wales Online.

Chloe added: “After my operation, I was surprised by how quickly I recovered and how little it affected my day-to-day life. My son Romeo is the most important thing in my life and thankfully the healing process didn’t stop me from doing all the things that come with being a mum to an energetic 18-month-old boy.

“I don’t worry about my eyes anymore and I’m able to do my job as a content creator with more confidence than before.” Dr Ahmed Alsayed, who was the lead surgeon for Chloe’s procedure, revealed how eyelid surgery is increasing in popularity.

He said: “Eyelid reductions are one of the most common surgeries we perform, we’ve done anywhere between 500 and 800 just in the past 12 months. Some of our patients have told us how living with excess skin under their eyes can have a huge impact on their lives and their self-esteem.

“However, surgery should never be considered as an easy fix for any issue, and should only be done with full awareness of the potential pros and cons.”
