Newcastle United are poised to complete a club record purchase for Aleksander Isak. The Magpies are understood to have agreed a £58million fee for the Sweden international and the Real Sociedad man has said his goodbyes to staff at the La Liga club in anticipation of his move to the Premier League.
Newcastle are now looking to push the striker through his medical and hope to announce a long-term deal for the 22-year-old in the next 48 hours providing there are no late hitches.
United were mindful of the issues that any potential injury to Callum Wilson might cause after the Toon star suffered a hamstring injury against Man City in the 3-3 draw at the weekend.
Isak has been classed as a great deal for Newcastle by many observers given his best years are still very much ahead of him. But Newcastle are not finished there and are expected to sign another forward and possibly a wide player.
Although, there are a clutch of departures also on the cards with Eddie Howe's squad currently oversubscribed.
