Newcastle have shown 'real desire' to offer Real Madrid's Eden Hazard a lifeline

The upcoming summer transfer window is set to be the biggest in Newcastle United's history and potentially even the Premier League following their world record takeover in October.

And with the Magpies seemingly on their way to securing their Premier League status for next season, they are guaranteed to land some of their top targets come the end of the current campaign.

Eddie Howe ’s side will have already drawn up another huge shortlist of potential candidates to join the club ahead of 2022-23 and discussions will be ongoing between now and the opening of the transfer window in July.

And the latest news to involve the north east club is the huge transfer ordeal surrounding a certain Real Madrid player who could be set for a Premier League return.

According to Spanish outlet Defensa Central, the Magpies have already begun contact with the La Liga giants over the possibility of signing ex- Chelsea winger Eden Hazard, who is destined to leave the Santiago Bernabeu this summer.

Could Newcastle pull off a move for Eden Hazard from Real Madrid this summer? Let us know what you think in the comments section below.

The report states that Newcastle are the only club to have shown a real desire to sign the Belgian international, although Carlo Ancellotti’s side are waiting for Chelsea to make their move.

The Blues have supposedly been interested in the possibility of re-signing Hazard following his 2019 move to the Spanish capital, in which things haven’t quite gone to plan for the 31-year-old.

After signing for a reported fee of €100 million (£82.9m), which could rise to €146.1 million (£121.2m) due to additional fees, injury has plagued the winger’s time at Los Blancos.

This has limited him to just 65 appearances in all competitions in nearly three seasons at the club, while he has netted just six times.

And with injuries hampering his progress, this has seen him struggle to hold down a starting spot in the first team, and is now almost deemed surplus to requirements.

But Madrid are also keen to sell him this summer to reduce their financial outgoings, with the Belgian on a whopping £400,000-a-week deal.

Hazard became a Chelsea legend after scoring 110 goals for the club and making over 350 appearances during his time in west London, helping them to win six trophies, while also winning a number of individual awards for the club and the Premier League.

But the Blues are yet to show serious interest in bringing him back to Stamford Bridge, and Newcastle are certainly wasting no time in doing so themselves.

The Magpies are one of very few clubs who are able to take on Hazard’s huge wage demands, following their £300 million takeover which saw them become the richest club in the world.

The north east side would be able to tempt Hazard with another lucrative contract and the chance to reinvent himself in the Premier League could be a tough offer to turn down, following a disappointing spell in Spain.
