An Ibiza summer atmosphere and club night vibes will be taking over at Fenwick in Newcastle in August when it hosts two drag cabaret nights in its new club.
The city store opened Arthur's Restaurant and Music Club in May - where its new evening events and afternoon teas have been proving a hit - and now it is teaming up with Northern Pride to add drag nights to the mix. Following on from the weekend's hugely successful Pride festival, the events - called Love is Love and Express Yourself - are out to support the LQBTQ+ community and promise to be "unforgettable" nights of entertainment.
Mixing drag, comedy and music, the events will also include cocktails and a three-course meal. Love is Love will be the first, on August 5, when Ibiza Soul - an acoustic piano vocalist duo - will be conjuring up a laid-back island vibe.

Following that will be a live drag performance by queer club night Spectrum, with Carmen at Show Tunes and Wine taking to the stage with comedy and more music. There will be a live act too - yet to be announced - before a deck-spinning finale from Spectrum gets people on the dance floor to wrap up the night.
Following up on August 6 will be Express Yourself, again featuring an acoustic set; a drag act from Spectrum; live music from MXYM and another live act currently under wraps before a dance floor session which will be encouraging self-expression. Both nights will include a cocktail upon arrival; a themed three-course meal and a wine-pairing with the main course.
With the night and its menu taking inspiration from the 1969 Stonewall Uprisings - which proved a turning point in the fight for LGBT rights - and themes of love, rebirth, and reincarnation, guests can expect remakes of popular sixties dishes and a cocktail inspired by Marsha P Johnson, the gay activist who was a member of 'avant-drag' performance troupe Hot Peaches which toured America and Europe between the 1960s and the 1990s.
Fenwick recently launched a DE&I - diversity, equity, and inclusion - ambassador programme and is receiving advice and support from the Stonewall organisation as well as partnering up with Northern Pride on ways to support the LGBQT+ community. Northern Pride director Ste Dunn said: “For me, one of the things we strive to do is work with key players in the city and the region.
"Fenwick has 140 years of history in the city and it is part of culture in the North East. It makes sense that we work with cultural partners to celebrate and embrace our part in the community.”
Tickets for the drag cabaret nights are £50. To book see here.
