Newcastle DJ lands record deal with the record label that counts Adele, Elton John, Taylor Swift among its stars

A Newcastle DJ and producer has landed a major record deal after Lady Gaga gave him the ultimate seal of approval.

Dan Heale has just signed with Universal Music following the viral success of his remix of the star's track 'Bloody Mary' which has racked up millions of views on TikTok and YouTube.

The 28-year-old Geordie was blown away when Lady Gaga even shared a video of herself doing the dance from the 'Wednesday Addams' Netflix series to his version of the track which has been watched more than 14 million times on TikTok.

And now Dan has signed a three-single deal with Universal Music, the record label which has Adele, Elton John, Taylor Swift and Justin Bieber on its books.

It's the stuff of dreams for Dan who spent years working on his music alongside his full-time job in marketing. Now Dan is pursuing his passion full-time and is set to release his first single with the label this summer.

Dan told Chronicle Live: "Universal Music signed the Bloody Mary track as just a one-off but then after that, they were saying that they should get me to do some more tracks. They said, 'Why don't you do another three tracks alongside the Bloody Mary one?'

"So we are just doing those three tracks and we'll see what happens after that."

Dan, who now has more than 53,000 YouTube subscribers, is continuing to work from his Newcastle studio but is set to travel to London to meet with writers and vocalists to create some original tracks.

"I did a remix of 'Hot Stuff' by Donna Summer last summer and put it out on Sound Cloud," he said.

"The label heard that and decided to make it the next track because it sounds like a good follow-up.

"I have already got quite a few songs that I have done and sent them to the label, so we will work together to decide which ones will be good to have after Hot Stuff."

Dan said signing the deal is everything he hoped for when starting out his music career.

"It is a dream come true," he said.

"Just the fact that Bloody Mary did so well and then to get a deal with Universal off the back of it is all I could have hoped for. I am just buzzing to have signed this deal."

Dan also performs at venues across the country and his next gig is at Space Club in Leeds on Sunday, May 28.
