Newcastle co-owner Mehrdad Ghodoussi jokes over Soccer AM appearance and challenges Jamie Reuben

Newcastle United co-owners Mehrdad Ghodoussi and Jamie Reuben have been involved in a hilarious exchange online over a prospective Soccer AM challenge. The Sky Sports show issued an open call to Magpies supporters looking to take part in their volley challenge this weekend.

Soccer AM took to social media to invite six Newcastle fans to participate on Saturday's show ahead of the away clash with Fulham. However, the television producers likely were not expecting an immediate response from two of the Magpies owners.

Ghodoussi was the first to respond, simply asking whether co-owner Reuben would be 'up for it'. The question drew a spiky response from the businessman, who seemingly accepted the challenge before warning he wouldn't 'want to embarrass' Amanda Staveley's husband.

The pair played on the St James' Park pitch following the final home match of last season, where Eddie Howe's side ended Arsenal's top-four hopes with a 2-0 victory. Reuben insists he pulled off a nutmeg on his fellow co-owner, a fact which Ghodoussi clearly still disputes.

Ghodoussi's final response read 'are you still fantasising about that nutmeg'? The comments from Newcastle's owners have been 'liked' by more than a thousand fans in a matter of hours, and supporters are clearly now desperate to see the pair participate on this weekend's edition of Soccer AM.

One fan wrote: "Well I think they'd increase their viewers, what a great idea. Publicity for the club while having a laugh you have to do it." Another supporter replied: "I can guarantee every Toon supporter in the land would be watching that, as well as the envious supporters from elsewhere, top owners of a top club having a laugh."
