Newcastle bottomless brunch offers fishbowl drinks and a 'council tapas' of chicken nuggets

A Newcastle bar that's 'full of surprises' is going one step further with its bottomless brunch offer that includes drinks by the fishbowl and a 'council tapas' of food including chicken nuggets and baked beans.

The Mad House in Pink Lane has already been living up to its name in the city with its unique layout which is along the lines of a house, with a living room, kitchen, bedroom, bathroom and garden, so that customers can pick from such options as enjoying a drink while sitting on a toilet seat - at a table made from a bath - or chilling out in the indoor 'garden' with its sandpit and swings. And now their home away from home visit can be completed with a bottomless brunch including down-to-earth grub which, admittedly, sounds like it might appeal to your inner child.

The café and cocktail lounge, which describes itself as 'funky, quirky and full of surprises', is offering a 90-minute-long bottomless brunch for £34.95. And for this guests can enjoy a food and drink menu with a difference.

The brunch food is a platter of The Mad House's 'council tapas' which includes turkey dinosaurs, fish fingers, chicken nuggets, Smilies, fries and baked beans. The unlimited drinks offer served with it is a selection of lager, prosecco or 'fishbowls' of cocktails: pornstar martini, espresso martini, Mad Island iced tea or what the bar describes as its 'infamous' strawberry duckari and aperol spiritz.

Those choosing the fishbowls will receive one upon arrival and then, when they have finished it, they can select their next option. The venue is open Wednesday to Sunday and the bottomless brunch offer is available on Friday tea-times and any time between noon and 4pm at weekends.

The Mad House opened last December, in the former home of vegan cafe Junk It Up, and, speaking about it at the time, owner Justin Loblack explained: "It is called the Mad House because everything in here is themed like a section of the house. We have got the garden, living room, dining room, bedroom and kitchen, and the bathroom.

"We wanted it to seem like it was a real person's house so when you come in you get that real homely, warm feeling." To book the bottomless brunch see here.
