Newcastle boss Eddie Howe urged to make Saint-Maximin and Callum Wilson call for Brighton clash

Allan Saint-Maximin should take Callum Wilson's place in the Newcastle United starting eleven to face Brighton. That is the view of ChronicleLive readers, who have urged Eddie Howe to make just one change to the team which drew at Leeds United last time out.

The Magpies know two wins from their final three fixtures will seal Champions League football next season and put the icing on the cake for an extraordinary campaign. Liverpool sit a point adrift of both Newcastle United and Manchester United, albeit having played a game more, after their comfortable victory at Leicester City on Monday night.

Brighton arrive at St James' Park on the back of a sensational away victory at Arsenal which has all but ended the Gunners' faint title hopes. Nick Pope came to Newcastle's rescue when the sides last met in August, with the goalkeeper producing a number of fine saves to ensure the match finished goalless.

The Magpies' home defeat to Arsenal followed by the draw at relegation battlers Leeds United has opened the door for Liverpool to potentially pip them at the post. Bearing in mind the need for victory to keep ahead of the Reds, fans have called upon Eddie Howe to make just one change to the team which earned a 2-2 draw at Elland Road.

Pope unsurprisingly remains in goal, protected by the usual defence of Kieran Trippier, Fabian Schar, Sven Botman and Dan Burn. Sean Longstaff's continued absence means Bruno Guimaraes, Joelinton and Joe Willock remain the midfield trio.

Miguel Almiron continues on the right flank having earned a recall in place of Jacob Murphy last time out, with Alexander Isak shifted to a central role. The one change comes with Saint-Maximin making his first start in eight matches on the left, meaning Wilson drops out despite his double against Leeds.
