A restaurant in Newbridge has been forced to shut due to lower footfall and increasing costs.
No 19 Brasserie, described online as a relaxed and informal dining setting, took to social media to announce the news. They confirmed that a significant rise in overheads, alongside a decline in footfall, led to the decision.
The restaurant, located on the town's Main Street, thanked customers for their support. They also reassured those with vouchers that these would be honoured at their sister eatery, Italian restaurant Il Ponte Nuovo, on nearby George's St in Newbridge.

Staff wrote: "Unfortunately No. 19 Brasserie is closed until further notice due to a decrease in footfall and significant rise in costs and overheads which has been proven difficult to operate at a sustainable level. Thank you to all our customers, those who have vouchers and wish to redeem them can do so at our sister restaurant, Il Ponte Nuovo located on George’s St."
Customers took to social media to voice their disappointment regarding the closure. Several people commented on the restaurant's wide ranging menu.
One Facebook user said: "That’s a pity. Newbridge needs variety not just the same restaurants that are in the town at the moment - that’s why people go elsewhere."
Others said that the restaurant's prices had deterred them from going, alongside the portion sizes. However, they praised the food that was on offer.
One person wrote: "Too expensive for the very small portions. Gorgeous food but not good value for money, especially these days. Put a lot of people off, including myself."
