New Zealand's men and women's Sevens teams each enjoyed success at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham on the opening weekend of their tournaments, and celebrated in style by performing the Haka together.
As rugby fans we are accustomed to seeing the haka performed separately by the teams. For the men their legs are bent, eyes bulging and tongues sticking out. We watch the women traditionally maintain a more upright position, pursing their lips with their feet shoulder-width apart.
But the men and women performed together for this great communal celebration after both winning bronze at the Games.

A chorus of Maori culture bellowed out in the ground as the two sides celebrated their Commonwealth exploits.
Ka Mate, which the All Blacks team perform, is often associated with aggressive, battle-hardened male rugby players. But what many people do not know is that Ka Mate is actually depicting the power of a woman.
The men's team were defeated 19-14 by Fiji in the semi-final, but scooped up bronze winning 26-12 against rivals Australia for the third-place medal play-off.
The women's team beat Canada 19-12 for the bronze medal play-off after narrowly losing out to Australia in the semis.
