New York officials have reported that following the recent earthquake in the area, there has been only one gas line leak reported. However, they have reassured the public that there is no significant impact on the infrastructure at this time.
According to New York’s Director of State Operations, the earthquake was larger than what is typically experienced in the state and is not a common occurrence. Despite this, it is noted that fault lines do exist in the state.
Officials are closely monitoring the situation to determine if there are any spikes in hospitalizations or vehicle accidents related to the earthquake. As of now, there have been no reports of such incidents.
The single gas leak was reported in Rockland County, located north of New York City on the west side of the Hudson River. Apart from this isolated incident, there have been no indications of any major disruptions to the infrastructure, as stated by the New York State Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services.
