New York Jets coach says they're among 6-8 teams with "legitimate chance" of Super Bowl

New York Jets coach Robert Saleh believes his team is among eight franchises who are in with a 'legitimate chance' of clinching the Super Bowl title this season.

The 2022 campaign proved to be a frustrating one for the Jets, having missed out on a play-off spot after finishing fourth in the AFC East. They have been given a huge boost heading into the 2023 season though after signing Green Bay Packers legend Aaron Rodgers.

Rodgers incoming has no doubt had a positive impact on the Jets impact, so much so that coach Saleh believes he has a potential Super Bowl-winning team.

He said: "In my opinion, 32 coaches stand in front of their teams every year, talk about winning a championship and then realistically there's maybe six or eight teams that have an actual chance to do it, and I do think we are one of those teams.

"But none of it matter unless we take care of it today." Ahead of the new season, Saleh is already planning his Super Bowl charge with preparation seemingly key. "To achieve the results you want, it doesn't happen on game day," he added.

"It happens today. It happened yesterday. It happens tomorrow. It happens with every breath you take in terms of how you're preparing to achieve and keep that positivity rolling. Would love to go 17-0 and cruise through the playoffs and win a championship, but you're not going to be able to unless you focus on the moment."

Not everything is going to plan for the Jets though. This comes after they were dealt an injury scare from new star Rodgers, after he took part in just the warm up of his team's second day of OTA's before being absent from their quarterback drills with back-up Zach Wilson, as well as Chris Streveler and Tim Boyle.

After pulling out of quarterback training, Rodgers was seen making his way over to the team's trainers before having his lower leg, with the problem seemingly stemming from his ankle.
