New Year's Day hangover cures suggested by Nottinghamshire Live readers

If you had a big one last night you might be waking up a little delicate this morning. The bad news is there's no quick fix for that headache, nausea and greenness round the gills.

Everyone has their own preferred hangover cure. We asked Nottinghamshire Live readers on Twitter for their top tips on how to feel human once again.

Kat swears by sports drink Gatorade and a bag of crisps, whereas Dave Hopkins favours multi vitamins and water. Andy Scotland, however, recommends the hair of the dog. Agreeing, Lewis Bramhall said: "Get back on it!! Hair of the dog! Never fails!!"

Sartorial Thug suggests the famous morning reviver D.R. Harris’s Original Pick-Me-Up. Its efficacious ingredients include ginger, milk thistle, ginseng, lemon peel, calamus root and Regents Park honey.

For Tom James it's got to be a classic: "Cup of tea, bacon sandwich and an Irn-Bru." For Rob Chappell it's a full fry-up. However, it's crisps for Alex Jones - in particular the 'Co-op's Irresistible Sea salt & Chardonnay wine vinegar crisps'.

Małgorzata Walczak added: "Plain kefir, scrambled eggs, loads of water and rest. In that order." Xawul had these words of advice: "Rehydration powder and water before you go to bed." But Tanya Louise is an advocate of chocolate milk rather than water.

Christopher Frost said the sure-fire way to avoid a hangover is not to get drunk in the first place. Phil Randall added: "Not drinking for the last 23 years!"
