Every 1 January social media is awash with “new year, new me” statuses as you blink blearily into the next 12 months after a night of celebrations. It’s no surprise: wanting to shed the old you and kickstart your future career is irresistibly appealing.
The new year offers the prospect of a fresh start at work – to make resolutions, review goals and reassess your career. To achieve these goals, many of us will spend January dusting off CVs and rewording cover letters in a bid to get that dream job.
“The new year is a great time to reflect on next steps and research – also a perfect time to review your CV and LinkedIn and get them ready for the start of the year recruitment rush,” says Victoria McLean, CV writer and founder of CityCV.co.uk.
So, once you’ve proofed and rewritten your résumé, how can you make sure your application is up to scratch in 2016? Whether the new year brings a desire to start a new job, or change career completely – join us on Wednesday 13 January from 1–3pm GMT for our CV and cover letter expert advice clinic. We’ll be discussing:
- CV and cover letter advice
- Assessing your career goals and ambitions
- Advice on sticking to career resolutions
- How to find a job that suits you
