New Welsh rugby structure for next season announced as teams find out opponents

With the season now wrapped up, the structure for the next WRU Admiral National Leagues campaign has been confirmed amid some big changes near the top of the pyramid.

In a move that had knock-on effects right the way down the grassroots leagues, it was announced last year that the Premiership will increase from 12 to 14 clubs from the 2023/24 season, with relegation from the top tier this season scrapped. The league will in fact be made up of just 13 teams during the next campaign after Llanelli's shock withdrawal.

Meanwhile, the Championship will also undergo a major change from next season, splitting into two regional leagues of 12 teams - East and West - with 12 clubs promoted from the various sections in Division One to make up a new two-group, 24-side competition.

These changes meant that teams from almost all of the leagues in the WRU pyramid knew they would not face relegation at the end of the season just gone. However, there was still promotion to play for, with teams moving up leagues to fill the spaces created by the aforementioned changes.

With plenty of new faces, local rivalries and dramatic title races to look forward to, here's how the new leagues will look when the 2023/24 season gets underway:
