New website offers help to Dumfries and Galloway people providing homes for Ukrainian refugees

A new website has been launched offering help to people providing homes for Ukrainian refugees.

The Ukrainian Connection Unit has been created by Nick Morris of Station House Cookery School in Kirkcudbright.

He spent 20 years in Ukraine as an English language teacher before moving back to the UK in 2015.

The resource offers information to refugees coming to the region and the people they’ll be living with.

He said: “A lot of people are keen to help and provide homes and need help – I know of a family of six who are coming into Kirkcudbright very shortly.

“I have set this up to provide information and contact details for people.

“For example, there’s information if they need a translator and articles explaining the difference between Ukrainian and Russian.

“There’s also information about what the council is doing and links to that.”

The new website can be found online at www.ukraineconnectingunit.com
