A new vegan pasta restaurant is to open on the site in Prince Street formerly occupied by Friska. Pastan - known for its vegan and plant-based pasta brand - will take over the site early in 2023.
With two restaurants already in London and Manchester, it is coming to Bristol after a pop-up near Gloucester Road proved popular. Brand manager Sophie Weir said: “It demonstrated to us there is definitely an appetite for plant-based pasta options.”

The new restaurant will offer lunch, evening ands à la carte dining options to customers. Prices will range from £12 to £15 for mains.
With the opening date yet to be confirmed, if Pastan does open in January it will offer £10 for main dishes during the month for Veganuary.
Pastan was created in November of 2020 by co-founders Dean and Jerome. They say the aim of the brand is to 'make plant-based pasta as exciting and as accessible as possible to entice vegans and non-vegans alike'.

On why Pastan chose Bristol, Sophie added: “It's an exciting city, a really vibrant city, one that we really want to put our mark on. We noticed for the pop-up we had that Bristol has an amazing vegan and plant-based community and people are open to trying new vegan options.”
