New UK passport design: Shakespeare and the London Underground to feature alongside updated security measures

William Shakespeare, artist Anish Kapoor, architect Elisabeth Scott and scenes from the London Underground are to feature in the UK’s new passport designs, alongside a host of new security features.

The new designs, under the theme ‘Creative United Kingdom’, will feature new anti-forgery updates implemented through the latest in printing technology, according to The Telegraph.

Minister for Immigration James Brokenshire will deliver a speech at the launch of the new passport design on Tuesday, explaining the new documents are to celebrate British arts and culture.

Scott was the British architect who designed the Shakespeare Memorial Theatre at Stratford-upon-Avon while Turner Prize-winning artist Anish Kapoor is well known for his ArcelorMittal Orbit sculpture that was created for the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Updates to the British passport design are unveiled by the Home Office every five years.
