New traders pitch up at town's 'incredibly popular' Hucknall Market

A Nottinghamshire market is going from strength to strength with several new traders. Hucknall's Friday market has recently welcomed a range of new businesses, including the bakery business Truly Scrumptious.

Hollie, owner and baker, sells a range of homemade cookies, brownies, cakes and her best-selling cookie pies in a range of flavours. Hollie originally started Truly Scrumptious as a hobby, but she has been standing on the Friday market since the start of January and has no intentions of stopping.

Truly Scrumptious joins other stall holders at the market, including Tony who sells flowers and plants, Graham’s free-range eggs, and Munchies and More who have a large selection of pre-packaged crisps, sweets and chocolates. Other market stalls sell fruit and vegetables, Indian snacks and food, jewellery, dog treats and accessories, fresh fish, bath bombs, clothing, bags, blankets, and woodwork.

The growth of the outdoor market comes after Hucknall had a Levelling Up bid rejected, which councillors had hoped to use to restore buildings, and improve key areas of the town, including the market and other shopping areas. Since 2017, the market has been based on the pedestrianised High Street.

Cllr John Willmott, who represents Hucknall North for the Ashfield Independents on the authority, and who is a regular at the market, said “Hucknall’s outdoor market is one of the highlights in Hucknall, it’s an incredibly popular market and I am pleased to see how well it is doing. It’s important that residents keep supporting our fantastic market and the traders who make their living here. Hucknall market seems to be bucking the national trend and long may it continue.”

The market also operates on Saturdays and Ashfield District Council offers two hours free parking in all town centre car parks, which gives visitors the perfect chance to enjoy the market.
