New ten pin bowling venue planned for city centre as owner issues update on Roxy Ball Room sites

The company behind two Roxy Ball Room venues in Liverpool is planning to open a new ten-pin bowling site in the city centre.

Roxy Leisure is set to submit a licence application to the city council for its expansion in School Lane.

Roxy Lanes would also feature new games that are not currently available at the other Roxy Ball Room venues.

Unlike the company's existing venues in Liverpool, the new site would be open to under 18s until 5pm.

Roxy Leisure has also confirmed that its Roxy Ball Room venues in the Cavern Quarter and Hanover Street will remain open, despite the proposed expansion into a new site.

More information is expected to be revealed by the business in the coming weeks.

Roxy Leisure is headquartered in Leeds and turned over more than £12m in 2021, according to its most recently available financial accounts.

During the same year, it returned to the black after achieving a pre-tax profit of almost £2m.

The business was founded by brothers Matthew and Ben Jones in 2013 and also has venues in Cardiff, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Bristol, Leeds, Manchester and Nottingham.

Another site is also due to open in Leicester soon.

Roxy Leisure's site in the Cavern Quarter of Liverpool opened in 2019 in a multi-million pound investment inside the former BHS café.

The venue features a host of leisure and gaming facilities, including a four-lane bowling alley and nine-hold mini golf course.

The 16,000sq ft site also features classic Roxy Ball Room games such as table tennis, pool and beer pong - with the addition of shuffleboard and arcade games.
